“What It Means To Be … Free” at KLPac

WHAT IT MEANS TO BE … FREE
A journey of discovery

The T4YP ensemble are now set to invade the klpac Indicine space with a line of performances running for 2 weeks from the 30th July up to 9th Aug. Consisting of 3 pieces, the young performers of the ensemble are being challenged to participate in experimental theater pieces that would be different from what they have gone through in their previous showcases.

The ensemble has been split into two with one group presenting a piece that has roots in physical theater while the other tackling a performance deeply rooted in mask work traditions. At the end of the 2 weeks, both groups will come back together to take on the challenge of writing, producing, rehearsing and performing sets of 10 minute plays which all will come out of a hectic 24hrs schedule.

SYNOPSIS

In the surreal world of 13 Bells, the Masked People stand above all as the rulers of the land. The young and naive Elle has her mask taken away from her and is stripped of her station for an act of insubordination. She is cast into the underworld of her society where she has to learn to live on her own two feet without her mask - in the process discovers the true meaning of freedom and how precious it is.
